Who Wrote the Tao? The Literary Sourcebook for the Tao of Jeet Kune Do (Paperback)
- Description
Upon its release in October of 1975, the Tao of Jeet Kune Do became an instant bestseller. The book was heralded as the authoritative word on Bruce Lee’s martial art of Jeet Kune Do – written by the man himself. While it became the best-selling martial art book of all time, the Tao of Jeet Kune Do was not entirely written and illustrated by Bruce Lee. Over the past four decades, evidence emerged that at least portions of the book were taken from other authors and their publications. As more evidence of true authorship grew, people began to question how much of the content of the Tao of Jeet Kune Do was actually written by Bruce Lee.
For the first time, the results of a recently conducted study of the text of the Tao of Jeet Kune Do is made available to the public. Who Wrote the Tao? The Literary Sourcebook to the Tao of Jeet Kune Do presents the identified original sources for approximately 85% of the Tao of Jeet Kune Do. This book contains almost 1,000 passages and illustrations that were transcribed by Bruce Lee in his personal notebooks before his death in 1973; these notes – covering a variety of topics including boxing, fencing, sports psychology, and philosophy – were later attributed to Bruce Lee in his posthumous book. They are presented here in their original form and with proper credit to the authors and publications from which they originate.
